Salthaven's Terms of Service

Each booking requires a person, 18 yrs of age or over, to act as the "responsible person".  We require the 'responsible person" to provide their name, e-mail and phone contact for administration and invoicing purposes.  We will not willingly provide those details to any other party unless required to by law.  Also, a photo ID may be required from the "responsible person" at check-in.  

A booking is a contract between Janice and Derek (the owners of Salthaven) and the "responsible person".  If the responsible person is travelling with other people then the "responsible person" is booking on behalf of that group.  This contract gives "the responsible person" plus any other guests the "responsible person" may have booked on behalf of, the right to occupy the Suite for the period stated on the invoice.  Check-in from 2 pm - Check-out before 10 am.   When booking on behalf of others the "responsible person" agrees to oversee the group and ensure Salthaven's policies are followed.

Janice and Derek are live-in hosts offering homestay accommodation.  Janice or Derek or the "responsible person" may cancel the above fore-mentioned contract for any reason (Salthaven's cancellation policy applies).   

Children 3 years and older are welcomed.   Each child is considered a guest for administration and booking purposes.  Janice & Derek are not responsible for the supervision of minor children.

How to Book:

1. Via the salthaven.nz 's secure portal (powered by Wix Hotels) by tapping the "book now" button and pay with credit cards via Paypal.  The "responsible person"  must enter his or her name, contact phone and e-mail.   When the terms are met the "responsible person" will receive a confirmation message via e-mail with our full address and check-in directions.   

2. The "responsible person" requests a quote directly from us by calling or messaging.   We will supply a written quote, with available date/s (requested dates are subject to availability).  The quote must be accepted, in writing, within 24 hrs of the quote being issued to secure the quoted dates.   When the quoted payment terms have been satisfied the booker will receive written confirmation of their booking via e-mail or some other written method (see terms below).  Our full address and check-in instructions will be forwarded with the booking confirmation.

By accepting a quote or proceeding with payment you accept these terms.

Payment Options and Terms: 

We accept payment with credit cards via Paypal, NZ bank transfer and cash at check-in.  Please note that cards are not processed on-site.

The deposit - A deposit of 25 per cent is required to confirm bookings made more than one week out from check-in.

All outstanding balances must be cleared before check-in.

Our invoices are non GST.

A non-refundable, one-off, fee of $30 is applied to each booking (Salthaven's booking fee)

Other rules:

The maximum occupancy of the Suite with Views is 6 people including children.

Our property and the local area are at risk from fire therefore no smoking or lighting fires.

No intoxication or loud partying will be tolerated.  

Guest hosted events or people visiting guests must be approved in advance by Janice or Derek

We have an inside cat and dog

We do not allow guests to bring their pets

Entry is up one flight of external stairs then all amenities are on one level.  The foreshore is less than 5 minutes via an uneven private path.  

The first floor garage and the stairwells in the lobby are out of bounds to guests. 

Due to the internal stairwells and our harbourside location our property is not suitable for toddlers and small children.  Children 3 yrs and over are welcome.

 We operate an outside CCTV system.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Bookings Cancelled more than one week out from check-in will be refunded in full less banking fees incurred by Salthaven.

  • Bookings Cancellated less than one week from check-in will be charged 25 per cent of the tariff.

  • If a booking is cancelled by the responsible person, during a stay, resulting in the guest/s leaving early, all remaining nights tariffs, following the night of departure, will be refunded minus banking fees incurred by Salthaven.   Salthaven's booking fee is non-refundable.

  • If Salthaven is made unavailable, to a confirmed booking, all charges relating to that booking will be credited and payments made will be refunded by NZ bank transfer or Paypal.
